Your 2003 impala make a water running noise when you accelerate its sounds like it come from the engine somewhere this just happens when im sitting still and you start going what can it be?

I have an 03 Impala LS with the 3.8 liter engine and it has made that sound for years. My mechanic says it is water running into the heater core in the dash. He says not to worry about it. SO far it has not caused me any problems.
