LOOK AT THE TOP OF THE BATTERY. ROTATE IT UNTIL THE WRITING IS RIGHT SIDE UP (NOT UPSIDE DOWN) THE POSITIVE POST IS THE ONE ON THE RIGHT.
The negative cable will lead to the engine block.
Depends on the car. An E30 BMW neg battery cable is about 6 inches. The neg battery cable on a Chevy small block about 2 feet.
if you can start car pull off the neg battery cable if car stalls its the altinater if it stays running it might be the battery
hook 2 batteries pos to neg and 2 more pos to neg, now you have 2 at 24v and hook the 2 pair pos to neg
The earth (Ground) on any car battery is negative while the live is positive.
if by "reboot" you mean start the car.. uyo re connect the battery pos first then neg, then turn the key..

take the back seat out othe car and hook up the battery charger to the battery red to pos and black to neg
Start the car and while it is running, disconnect the positive cable from the battery. If the car stalls, the alternator is bad.
It will vary from car to car, but the neg is usually black, and has a "-" sign. Normally the positive terminal is larger than the negative terminal.

grounding is always neg on a 12 volt american car. I only know bulldozers that reverse it. hope that helps you out.
