not a rattle its called pinking, inferior fuel / timing to far advanced , try a new set of spark plugs first

Have your motor mounts inspected! I'm guessing that acceleration in park is bad too.
If your car is an automatic (not a stick shift) then the car will automatically shift down as you ease off the gas petal. If it doesn't down shift then you need to have the vehicle checked out to see what is wrong.

It could mean that your transmission is out. That's what engages the engine. It could be broken or just sticking. You should get that looked at in the shop.
