I want to know are there any laws in the state of Ohio that can help me get my personal property back from my ex-girl friend. I have tried all means possible some lawyers want as much as $7,000.00 up front. I live on a fixed income ant there is no way that I could afford this. I thought it was against the law to steal from someone and that is just what she has done including money that she owes me. A person can collect a lot of personal items in ten years.

It IS larceny. At least, here in NY it is. Go talk to your local court clerk. It seems as though you should be able to file a lawsuit if the cops won't help you. You can file a small claims action in your local court. You will be able to present your own case and evidence to prove your claim. If she says you own her money she still cannot withhold your property without a court order. If she already has a lien you can fight that too. Good Luck.

Well mine have not return my belongings .Also i does not return her belongings either. It is less likely for people to meet after break up may be that's why.As we don't know either of you we cannot say why. Perhaps he is just being difficult or wants souvenirs. You could ask him for them, failing that you could sue him.

In Ohio...they are required to give back your personal belongings. This does not include anything that is a permanent fixture on/in the car...like a stereo system or rims. If they refuse to give back your personal belongings...I would contact an attorney and pursue legal action.

Unless specifically ordered to return the person's property by the courts or the sheriffs department, you are not legally obligated to accommodate the person who may own the belongings. On the other hand, if you really want to return the property, call him and drop it off somewhere for him to pick up.

I live in MI. here you can get your personal stuff from your car anytime during storage. my learned opinion is that the dealer lost the stuff or it got stolen. in either case you will probably have to sue. In MI you can sue in small claims court and don't need a lawyer, however you will have to document (prove) what you lost - witnesses, pics, etc. I've known of people who have stood out in front of (on public property) dealerships with big signs giving them a bad image to get them to settle their claim. hope this helps.
