I want to know are there any laws in the state of Ohio that can help me get my personal property back from my ex-girl friend. I have tried all means possible some lawyers want as much as $7,000.00 up front. I live on a fixed income ant there is no way that I could afford this. I thought it was against the law to steal from someone and that is just what she has done including money that she owes me. A person can collect a lot of personal items in ten years.

Thank you

It IS larceny. At least, here in NY it is. Go talk to your local court clerk. It seems as though you should be able to file a lawsuit if the cops won't help you. You can file a small claims action in your local court. You will be able to present your own case and evidence to prove your claim. If she says you own her money she still cannot withhold your property without a court order. If she already has a lien you can fight that too. Good Luck.

Well mine have not return my belongings .Also i does not return her belongings either. It is less likely for people to meet after break up may be that's why.As we don't know either of you we cannot say why. Perhaps he is just being difficult or wants souvenirs. You could ask him for them, failing that you could sue him.

How long can an employer hold your personal belongings after he fires you?

Your employer cannot hold your personal belongings if they are in fact your belongings. If your employer refuses to return property you can prove is yours, you should contact a lawyer about a lawsuit and/or may even be able to file criminal conversion charges with your local police.

How do you get back your personal items from a repossessed car in Ohio if the bank won't return your calls and you don't know which repo company took it and are they obligated to give you your stuff?

In Ohio...they are required to give back your personal belongings. This does not include anything that is a permanent fixture on/in the car...like a stereo system or rims. If they refuse to give back your personal belongings...I would contact an attorney and pursue legal action.

What am I as a holder of someones personal property to do if the sheriff's department refuses to escort a person I have a peace order against onto our property to retrieve belongings?

Unless specifically ordered to return the person's property by the courts or the sheriffs department, you are not legally obligated to accommodate the person who may own the belongings. On the other hand, if you really want to return the property, call him and drop it off somewhere for him to pick up.

How do you put misc cash spending in tax return?

I am assuming you are referring to an individual basis. You cannot deduct miscellaneous cash spending on a personal tax return. You cannot deduct household expenses on your tax return either. You cannot deduct your regular cost of living expenses.

What can you do if the car dealership refuses to return your personal belongings after the storage fee was paid?

I live in MI. here you can get your personal stuff from your car anytime during storage. my learned opinion is that the dealer lost the stuff or it got stolen. in either case you will probably have to sue. In MI you can sue in small claims court and don't need a lawyer, however you will have to document (prove) what you lost - witnesses, pics, etc. I've known of people who have stood out in front of (on public property) dealerships with big signs giving them a bad image to get them to settle their claim. hope this helps. Why did you pay the fee and not get your personal property back?

When selling household belongings do you claim it as income?

If you are a individual taxpayer and you sell your household items at more than they cost you and you make a profit on them then you would have some income that you would have to report on your 1040 income tax return. If you are in the business of selling household belongings then you are a self employed taxpayer and will have to use the schedule C of the 1040 income tax return to report your gross sale and expenses from your business operation.
