It depends on how you feel. Do you think he can change? Do you still love him and want to work things out? If you don't think he can change, its best to leave him. No matter what you have done, you don't deserve to be abused in any way. No one does. However, if you want to work things out and actually believe that he can change with professional help, give it a try. Talk to him. Tell him that you deserve better than that. That he shouldn't be treating you that way and that you're willing to give him a chance to change. If he truly loves you, he wouldn't be abusing you in any way and would be willing to change. If in the end you have tried everything and he still continues abusing you, leave him. It might not be easy, but its for the best. Being with an abusive person puts you in danger. It isn't healthy. He may not be abusing you physically, but that can change. Do you really want to take that risk?
When one of the spouses is abusing everyone in the household, obviously, everyone (maybe including the abusive spouse) will face some degree of emotional, physically, and/or mental damage. A better question would be "What should you do to get rid of a spouse that is abusing everyone in the household."
how you react to the different events in your life

If you're living with your parents, discuss this problem with them and keep your puppies away from your grandfather until this is resolved. Abusing animals is a sign of mental illness that should not be ignored.
