The three basics....
1) Fuel
2) Spark
3) Compression
battery need to be at lease 14 volts to be able to start
It IS possible. Tell us more-- does it crank over? Have you checked anything else?
"fuel pump relay contacts dirty or relay bad" I have checked contacts and I have changed the relay....Do you know of anything else?

Probably something else. Please get it checked.
have you checked the timming?
The head lights, radio, and eveything else works, but the car will not start. I checked the starter and it was good. The battery is good, but whatever it is causes the battery to have a low charge. Could it be the alternator
Check for spark and fuel. You're missing one of those.

its the ignition coil ..eeds replacing becuz i had the same thing happen to me
It is possible that the 1997 Mercury Villager simply needs a tune up. New spark plugs and wires may make a great difference.
it sounds like the timing belt has blown.remove the belt cover and look while trying to start..
