Performanceproducts.com offers a new one for $133.00. If you live in a state that doesn't have smog tests, then remove the instrument panel and pull the light bulb from the O2 sensor idiot light. Happy motoring.
Have the system checked for codes. That will lead you to the problem.
O2 sensors are located in the exhaust system.
If it has a downstream O2 sensor the check engine light will come on but if it does not the light may not come out. In most instances it will set the check engine light.
go have your engine scanned to see what the problem is the o2 sensor is not the only part in the emissions system
Your check engine light will come on, and when you go to the auto parts store and have them run the fault codes and it says O2 sensors, you will know for sure that is the problem.
The engine computer is not seeing the O2 sensor move off of lean like it should. The O2 could be bad, The wiring could have a problem, or there could be a running problem that is making the O2 read incorrectly. With out a scan tool and a service manual this is very hard to diagnose.
It could be anything, but the most common problem is the O2 sensor.
On my 93 Trooper there is a "switch" behind the instrument cluster that resets the O2 replacement reminder light. I have read that it reminds you every 90,000 km. I say "switch" because it is actually a screw that you remove from one hole and put in an adjacent hole. Both screw holes are labeled - "KSW" on my cluster. This is a separate dash light than the check engine light. You can not do this without removing the cluster. It might not be an O2 warning light. It comes on when the computer detects a problem with the emissions controls. It may be a bad O2 sensor or it may be many other things. Don't assume it means the O2 sensor is bad. You may be able to reset it by removing the + battery cable for a few minutes. If it comes back on after resetting it, then the problem was not a bad O2 sensor.
If the light is still on after the repair then you did no repair the problem you just think you did. I assume you reset the light. If not reset it and see if it comes back on. If so, you have another problem. If you retrieved the code and it pointed to, as an example, a problem with the O2 sensor, that only means the O2 sensor is being effected, and not necessarily that the sensor is bad. Any code only tells you what part is being effected not necessarily the defective part. That is where skill, knowledge, training, and diagnosis comes into play.
The most common problem on "Engine light" on the dash board means it's time to change your O2 sensor. the "check engine" light is an indication that there is a problem with the computer controlled and or monitored emissions systems. oxygen sensors are just one thing that could be wrong when the light goes on. a tester is connected which tells the technician where the problem is.
well I read about this happening somewhere else I cant really recal it but from what I remember the o2 sensors where changed and then there is a problem in the wiring with o2 sensors
Your check engine light codes will tell you which one is bad if there is a problem with them.
