1987 Mercedes 300d continues to run after the key has been turned off Any ideas?

There is a vacuum leak in the shut off circuit. Remove all molding around your ignition switch. As you look at the bare unit, you'll find two vacuum hoses. Check to see if one has come loose, or is clogged. Repair or replace as needed. Another way to stop the engine is to press the "Stop Engine" tab on your throttle "venturi" linkage (over the valve cover).
