1989 Chevy silverado start but won't stay running It may run for few mins but it will almost quit then back up to normal idle . Place in gear it will quit or run real rough?

It sounds like it is starving for fuel due to a problem with the carburetor. Ask a guy at an automotive parts supply. A rebuilt carburetor will probably fix it.
