underneath the hood on the passenger side there is a fuse box. open it and check the fuses if they are dead replace them.
There is no fuse just for the speedometer. If the speedometer is not working, you may have a problem in the dash gauges cluster, or a vehicle speed sensor problem.
The VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is located on the transmission. If the speedometer is not working, it is rarely the VSS causing the problem. I would first check fuses and the ECU
If both the speedometer and the odometer do not work I would suspect the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) located on the tail shaft of the transmission is at fault. If only the speedometer doesn't work it's probably a problem with the dash cluster.
Cruise will NOT work if the speedometer has a problem
Its probably the vehicle speed sensor located on the transmission. Mine had that problem
If a 1992 Honda Civic's speedometer is erratic, the problem could be the speedometer cable. It could also be the speedometer sensor malfunctioning. Check both components carefully.
Its is located on the transfer case. It pulls right off the transfer case and is very simple and easy to change...only problem is finding the gear to replace it
There are two speed sensors, an input and output. They are located on the transmission. If the problem is the speedometer not working it is the output sensor located on the driver side of the rear of the transmission.
There might be a problem with the cable.
Much appreciated if the problem solves.
I am having the same problem. I know for sure there is one on the transmission but according to my mechanic there is another in the instrument cluster at the speedometer. Can seem to find any info on the speedometer sensor.
check the wiring to the speedometer. Check the sending unit as well. If the problem is internal then the speedometer will have to be replaced.
