Could be a few things... My guess, though, is a cracked head gasket. 3.1L's from GM were pieces of crap. However.. you're water pump could have went, your intake manifold, or it could just be your thermostat... you'd have to take it in to be sure, or get a little more detailed...
Just a little note for the person who stated that GM 3.1L's are crap,I have owned a '94 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme for about 5 years now and i have yet to have a single engine problem. Thermostats are usually the culprit unless you have repeatedly overheated it.
I also have 94 olds cutlass supreme with GM 3.1L and have owned it now for 4 yrs and mine has 230,000 miles on it and still runs strong with no major maintenance to it at all.
That motor with the hydramatic tranny is bullet proof even when driven hard. And I drive mine hard everyday to work and back home.
oldsmobile. to me it might seem cause its old.
A 1991 Honda Accord could be overheating if the radiator has a leak. There could also be a problem with the head gasket.
If it's a 2.5l... Open the hood and look straight down behind the radiator.
It is located by the rear axle behind the fuel tank.
my 1991 b2200was overheating until i removed the radiator and sent it to be cleaned, problem solved.

Check the 1991 Legacy for a stuck thermostat. Check to make sure that the water pump is working properly.
No coolant Thermostat not opening Defective temperature sensor
Could possibly be shifting gears sporadically or your driving on hilly terrain.
my niece's was overheating I replaced the radiator cap and it hasn't happened since FYI
follow the fule line out of the gas tank and you will see a lil can looking devise that it goes in to along the bottom of the car....it may be on the rocker paned or some where else
There could be several reasons why a 1991 Celica is smoking. Engine oil could be on the motor to make the car smoke. The also may be overheating causing it to smoke.
