There is a small light under it. Remove the console and change the bulb. If the console doeswn't come off easily, there is still a hidden screw somewhere. Hint: there are screws under the console cup holders.

Stand in front of the car and wink at it first. If it's interested, maybe it will wink back.
It might be because the light bulb is blown. It might be because the fuse is blown. There could be a short in the wires.
