here is a list of some things to check 1 Inspect Valve Stem Seal Cracked or brittle valve stem seals allowing oil to enter combustion chamber. 2 Inspect Valve Guide Worn valve guides 4 Inspect Piston Ring Set Worn or broken piston rings. 5 Inspect Engine Control Computer Incorrect operation information being delivered and sent from the eec. 6 Inspect Distributor Worn, loose or incorrectly adjusted distributor. 7 Inspect Piston Worn or damaged piston. 8 Inspect Ignition Timing Incorrectly adjusted engine timing. 9 Inspect Engine Worn or scored cylinder block 10 Inspect Head Gasket - Performance Head gasket leaking coolant into cylinders 11 Inspect Fuel Injector Rich injector 12 Inspect PCV Valve Plugged or damaged pcv valve. i would think most likely a injector is stuck try using some sea foam through a main vacuum source this will unclog a injector i used this stuff allot i be leave autozone and many stores sell it for like 6.99 a can (Sea Foam / 16 oz. Engine Fuel and Diesel Treatment)
white exhaust and rough running usually indicate possible blown head gasket.
transfer pump psi too low
one of your problems could be in the injectors they maybe putting to much fuel.
Several things could cause this problem. It could be the timing is set incorrectly, the catalytic converter is plugged, the spark plugs are misfiring, or a burned valve.
Seeing as it is a diesel engine it has to warm up first in the colder weather. You say that you are starting the engine early in the morning? Well the black smoke may be caused by he motor being cold or simply by the fact that it is a big diesel engine. The rough ride you are referring to is caused by the motor being under-heated, and then as the engine heats up it smooths out.
Running rich bad fuel injector?
possible blown head gasket, and a fuel leak /// unless is a diesel engine, in which case it probably running too rich, possible turbo, possible valve timing, possible intercooler
When was the last time you changed your O2 sensors? They are supposed to be changed about 60,000 miles. Could be responsible for rough idle and popping in the exhaust. Otherwise it is likely a vacuum hose that is leaking.
The engine is running rough. Could be in need of a tune up.
Check the O2 sensor located on the exhaust pipe on the passenger side. Could be giving the computer wrong information.
The fuel filter could be the cause for this common problem in a diesel. Also, check the condition of the fuel hoses. While most of the fuel lines are metal, there is a small amount that are rubber, and from personal experience, the hoses, if worn, could collaps due to long use and restrict fuel flow.
I have a problem. I just bought a used 1995 Kawasaki 220 Bayou. The engine started running a little rough at first. Kept getting worse and then started backfiring through the exhaust. I had the carbeurator rebuilt but still runs rough and backfires. Cranks good and idles good. What could be my problem? Thanks
