On the back of your diff housing is a unit which is connected to a plug. Disconnect the plug and remove/replace the unit on the diff attached with 2 bolts. Do not lose the O=ring. Simple procedure. It can only go in one way, but mine did not solve the problem. Cheapest option to start with, but could be the speedo cluster itself also.

How do you fix a broken odometer and speedometer on a 1995 Honda accord?

If you search the Internet (I prefer google) for "broken odometer" or some such keyword(s) - you will find your answer(s). But basically, you have two options, find a similar car/odometer at a junkyard, and replace the broken one with one that's working from there.... Or, take it (or send it....) to a speedometer shop which will be able to reconfigure the speedometer. Option 3, I found a high-tech site that details removing the dashboard, removing the speedometer from the dashboard, opening up the speedometer, replacing a broken gear in there (if it's a mechanical speedometer), then basically putting it back together in reverse. Sounded kinda technical, cause you gotta be sooo careful not to move/nudge the numbers the wrong way, or bend the odometer needle when putting it back onto the shaft.

The odometer in your 1993 Saturn SL1 quit working What might the problem be the speedo works fine?

The Issue: A small red plastic gear in the speedometer is notorious for becoming brittle and losing a tooth, which immobilizes the odometer, but leaves the speedometer working just fine. The Solution: The folks at odometergears.com can mail you a new. more durable one that they mold themselves for $29, includiing postage. You can install it yourself, if you are willing to take the time. Getting the cluster out is covered in the Haynes manual. Illustrated Instructions for getting it apart and back together are at : http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...=Odometer+Gear (Part I) and http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...rument+cluster (Part II) Alternative: Pay someone to install it. It will cost more than you think. Good luck

Why would the speedometer start jumping when the fog lights are turned on a 2002 Ram 1500?

The wires for the fog lights and speedometer are probably rubbing together somewhere behind the dash, the insulation is most likely worn on both the wires. I t will cause a short if it continues. Check the wires for worn insulation.

How do you fix the speedometer in a 1995 Civic LX?

first , remove the black cover from around the speedometer . second , remove the 4 self tapping screws . third , remove the all speedometer from the dash and unplug the socket . after you removed it , use a screwdriver to open the back and then you can see what is wrong with the speedometer . If you have any ire corroded or is not hooked up , you can hooked up . Usuall , the main problem is the plastic conectors , they tend to corrode and their contact is very poor . clean any rust or dust and then put the unit back together . follow the steps backward. If the unit is burned out , you can get one from any scrap yard or new from any hond dealer .

Where is the vehicle speed sensor on a 1989 acura integra and how would you test it when the ECU delivers a code 17?

Well, honey, the vehicle speed sensor on a 1989 Acura Integra is located on the transmission. To test it when the ECU delivers a code 17, you'll need a multimeter to check the sensor's resistance and make sure it's within the manufacturer's specifications. If it's not, well, you might just have to replace the darn thing.

Most speedometers are run off of the transmission. Something was not correctly put together.

How do you change gauge lights on a 95 Chevy 1500?

you must either purchase the made together socket and bulbs from a authorized speedometer shop, and then take the instrument cluster out to replace the socket with bulb made together. or just pay the speedometer shop to do the job for you. just remove the band around the cluster and cup holder. then use a 7mm socket to remove 4 screws from the cluster and pull it out. turn it over and you can see the backside of the light sockets just twist and pull them out you must replace the whole socket and bulb together because they are made together.

How do you replace a speedometer cable on an '85 Chevy Blazer?

Hey Criss==First take it loose at the speedometer end then pull it out of the housing. If it is broken, take it loose at the trans and remove the broken part. Put them together and measure the length. Go to the store and get a cable the correct length and get some speedo cable lube. In stall the cable into the housing with lots of grease and hook up the ends and that is all. If the housing is bad you will need a new housing and cable. GoodluckJoe

What is the power sourcefuse that links the 2002 b3000 wipers and speedometer together?

The power source that links the wipers and speedometer in a 2002 Mazda B3000 is typically the same fuse in the fuse box that controls the instrument cluster and wiper motor. This is often referred to as the "Wiper" or "Instrument Cluster" fuse. If either system is malfunctioning, checking this fuse for continuity is a good first step in troubleshooting. Always refer to the vehicle's manual for specific fuse locations and ratings.
