This has been a problem for many owners over the years. The answer has been as varied as the number of suspension items that can be worn out, alignment, tires, and sometimes it is never cured. My own 1996 Grand Cherokee didn't have the problem until 195,000 miles and then it started shimmying so bad you would think the glass was going to shatter! New tires and a new kicker shock have stopped the problem for the last 5,000 miles, but I always feel like the real problem is just being masked, not cured. Asking a dealer or a tire shop or a specialty 4x4 shop will likely get you a bunch of guesses, but nothing definitive.
The steering system in a 2005 Grand Prix is comprised of many different moving parts. The steering will shimmy when any of the parts begin to wear out.
