1996 K 1500 4X4 350 eng trans the 4X4 quit working you jacked it up and put in gear the front drive shaft runs but the axle does not engauge is there a switch in the transfer case that controls this?

The 4x4 on those models does not always kick in right away. You may have to put it in 4x4 and drive up to 150 yards before it goes in. If it still doesn't go in you probly have a bad actuator on the axle.
