It would appear to me that you have a ground problem. The switch has a plate on the back of it. In the center of this plate there is a main GROUND WIRE & HOT WIRE. Easily located with your test light. The ground will be the wire next to the center hot wire.
Cut a small slit in this ground wire and remove covering. Attach a wire to this exposed wire and attach it to a bolt on the door. (Most any bolt will do that is accessible.) This will give your circuit a new functional ground. Make sure wire is long enough to allow you to reinstall the switch and door panel. This should solve problem.
Actually what you've been doing is creating a new ground with the clip from the test light. This gave you a false positive. Try this and email me at jjmrsf@nctc and let me know how you came out. If this doesn't work will offer other alternatives, but I am betting on this one.

if manual, window regulator. if electric, check fuses, window switch, window motor, window regulator.
how do you bypass electric window switch on 88 toyota pickup
Relay being activated
un plug the connector at the window regulator, check for 12V, if you have it when you press the switch up or down, its your regulator, if not it mat be the window switch or a problem further up a wiring diagram Justin
the switch is on the door panel approx four inches from the window, this is the only switch that sends power to the window regulator motor (window motor).
its attached with glue.
Maybe its your driver-side window regulator that stopped working.
If it is electric windows it is the motor which needs replacing or it could be the regulator
The lock switch has nothing to do with the window. If you have power windows and the window switch is bad, you can operate the window by jumping the wires on the switch plug. On my 91 Camaro RS, the window regulator (motor) stopped working. I bought a new regulator at Napa and replaced it. Replacing the window regulator requires drilling out the factory rivets. IMPORTANT! Before you start, you should drill a hole through the door and gear then install a temporary nut & bolt to lock the window in the up postion. This will prevent the window from falling while your fingers are near the gear.
The process to replacing the window regulator involves removing the door panel, connections to the window switch and also the door handle bezels. I've included a video that will show you exactly what tools you need and how to get at the window regulator so that it can be replaced.
if you are trying to raise or lower the window by by-passing the switch you need to remove the door panel. Locate the wire connector to the window regulator motor. this will be 2 wires, red and green. disconnect the plug-in and use 2 jumper wires from the battery. touch the wires to the motor lead connectors and see which way the regulator moves. alternate the battery wires to achieve the results you want. hope this helps.
Window regulator is probably shot are they power or manual windows
