Refer to your owners manual, it will tell you what type of oil and how much oil to add. Of you lost your manual just use google it works just as good, believe me.

The oil pressure switch on a 1998 Chevy Blazer is on the side of the engine block. It is located above the oil filter.
Empty, 8 oz. If you're replacing one major part such as a compressor, condenser, evaporator or accumulator, add 3 oz.

The oil cap on a 1998 Chevy Blazer is located on the passenger side of the motor. It is just to the left of the manifold cover.

At least 5 quarts and possibly 6. Park the truck on a level surface. Drain the oil and change the filter. Add 5 quarts of oil, start the engine, and run for 45 seconds. Shut down and wait 45 minutes. Check the oil level and add until it is full. You now know.
You can prefill the oil filter if you want , just remember to put that much less oil into the engine
