I had the same problem in my 94 Taurus wagon. I thought that it was the switch, but found it to be the power wire going from the power distribution box to the headlight switch. Rather than tearing out the entire dashboard to find the short, I ran a new wire that bypassed the short. First you have to make sure that that is your problem by testing for power at the power box. then check at the headlight switch. If a wire has power at the box and none at the switch then there is a short somewhere in between. I took a new lenght of 14 gauge wire and ran it through a hole i punched in a rubber gromet in the firewall. Then i found my dead wire at the switch and attached my new wire to it. on the other end I did the same thing on the side that had power and presto chang-o i had power at the switch, it just took another path to get there. now if i could just figure out how to adjust the stupid things i could actually see. good luck.
have you replaced the dimmer switch? if not that may be the problem. I had the same problem in reverse( brights worked but headlights didn't) water damaged the dimmer switch on the steering column once I replaced it all was good.
If your regular headlights wont turn on but only the brights for your Monte Carlo 07 then you're probably experiencing an outage in the light area. The fuse or the bulbs may also be the cause of the problem.
Blown fuse or the lights are just blown and need replacing.
You have some kind of electrical problem that needs checked out.
Had a similar problem on a different type vehicle. Turned out to be the dimmer switch.
1. You have a busted headlights. 2. You have a busted fuse for the headlight. 3. Have an Electrical wiring connection problem. 4. No battery charge
Something was done incorrectly. Retrace the repair.
I had this same problem when I first got my 94 beretta. To switch from your regular lights to brights, you have to pull the turning signal lever towards you to switch between normal and brights.
The problem could be one of two things. The most comon problem is the multi-function switch, (the swotch that turns your brights on and your signals, and your wipers when the contacts get worn out the headlights may not work,) Also doge had some serious problems with ignition switches, not to be confused with the tumbler this is what the tumbler mounts in.
Sounds like an electrical problem, check your battery, alternator, and fuse box, and light wiring.
possible short. have an auto electrical shop trace the problem.
could be headlight fuse or headlight switch.
