Front lower left of engine. Please disconnect battery before any service on the starter area.
check the starter motor.
the wiring from my battery to my starter had a short that's what the problem was, thanks anyways
Loose or corroded battery cable? Bad starter solenoid? Bad neutral safety switch?
i changed the starter on my vw passant 2000 1.8 turbo and it will not start.everything else turns on and the car wont i checked the battery also i got it tested please help me
It's your starter solenoid. Toys are hard to replace just the solenoid. replace the starter!!!!!
at the front, under the throtal body housing..... there are wires conected to the back of it, one of them is your live... (please note You MUST dissconect the battery before removing the starter)
This depends on your location. Call your local parts store.
If the engine will not turn over, it is either the battery or the starter. Turn on the headlights and then have someone try to start the vehicle while you look at the headlights. If the lights go dim, the battery is bad. If they do not, you have a problem with the starter. Remove the starter and have it tested. The flywheel would only be the problem if you hear the starter engage and spin. That can be a broken tooth on the flywheel, or a bad starter drive gear. If the starter does not engage at all and you hear no click, you may have a bad ignition switch.
Assuming the battery checks good, you have a bad connection between the negative battery post and ground to the engine, or bad connection between the positive battery post and the starter.
Follow the large wire from the battery. On the right side of the engine, underneath attached to the bell housing. If the engine is a 302 PLEASE DISCONNECT THE BATTERY before working on the starter as the big cable is live as it is connected directly to the battery.
