The first tlme the chk eng. lite came on in my "98" Outback I panicked. In Calif at the time & garage wanted $110.00/ hr. but friend said not to worry. It happened rt aftr I tnkd up in Oregon. Lt cleared after considerable driving but happened again eventually. The cause was from the attendant not tightening the gas cap tight enough. Book states to give it AT LEAST 3 clicks. I've had no more trouble since adhering to this simple rule. Hope it works for you!
My 2001 Subaru Outback does not have this problem. If it sounds like you are dragging something, look under the car to see if you are dragging something. Take a look at the plastic fender liners to see if one of those has come loose and is in contact with a tire. There is no amount of written advice that can come close to just examining the car to see what is dragging.
Best thread I've found on this problem (and I've followed the steps and advice myself) is located at http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=8005. This saved me a lot of money in repair costs!
generally, to wait.

Try Subaru technical advice on 0121 747 4000 and ask them for a fax copy(no emails!) PS they're on lunch 12.30 - 1.30 What luxury!
Using an Ohmeter open either end and follow above advice
R134a Advice: take your car to a profesional to have the a/c checked for leaks etc.
I advice you to read the wikipedia page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_Resistance It is well written and exaustive.
The only bulb I can think of for an air conditioner is for the on/off indicator light. They use a special tiny tiny bulb only available through your Subaru dealer and you have to take the heater controls apart. This involves taking much of the console apart and the cables that come from the heater control tend to spring their clips loose and may cause the heater controls to stop working. If you can live with it not working that would be my advice. If you decide to change the bulb be prepared to spend at least an entire afternoon and keep the kids away if you don't want them to hear bad language.
Have it checked by a good gunsmith and ask for advice.
Go to the doctor and get checked. If you cannot get to a doctor immediately, call a poison control center for advice, or just call the emergency services.
I would advice you to go for counselling first if you are 14 and feel depressed and too scared to tell anyone because of how they'd react and u want to go and get checked alone.
