Many things start with the basics.... full of good coolant proper type and spec is it new or the old stuff that is more than two years old ? Cooling fan coming on? Ckeck engine light on or off....... -----------0000000000000-------------- And youre not having to top up fluids. Most times when the temp guage rises and falls there's an airlock somewhere and its the air going past the temp sender that makes the guage fluctuate. The overheating is because the cooling system can't pressurize properly due to the trapped air. With the engine warm to the touch find the highest coolant pipe and loosten the highest end. Manipulate it but dont remove it air should escape from around it. When water flows retighten. Just like bleeding a domestic central heating system
If you do not have any external leaks, a head gasket is most likely.
If it's stuck open-nothing. If it's stuck closed (more likely) no circulation & overheating. At least they are cheap.
check engine timing sticking brakes can also cause overheating
if it's like my V8 Porsche 914, i had air pockets in the cooling system at the water pump. when air is at the water pump there is nothing to push water. Therefore overheating. Other things to check is water pump and radiator.
nothing
im having the same problem with my 1994 I've replaced the heater core, thermostat, radiator,i checked the coolant, and it's not over heating or nothing and still no heat lol
An engine can overheat from several reasons. A faulty thermostat is the most common cause, provided that there is nothing else wrong. A plugged radiator or a faulty water pump can also cause the problem. Once an engine has overheated the head will often warp causing the coolant to "blow out" of the cooling system and making it impossible to keep running without overheating. Damaged hoses or other leaks can cause overheating as well.
i had the same problem in my 96 grand-am i actually replaced the radiator, coolant overflow tank, and thermostat before it stopped. Check your coolant overflow tank and check for cracks and whatknot. If nothing else check the fan and make sure all belts are in proper motion and stuff. hope i was some help
If you are talking about the thermostat in your engine, the two have nothing to do with eachother. If there is no air at all coming out the vents, I suggest it is your blower motor.
Maybe check both electical fans between radiator and engine.
Check the coolant, is it the right type. Check/Replace the thermostat. Make sure there is nothing blocking the radiator that can disrupt air flow to it.
nothing
