baybe you have dead plugs some times you can burn them out i would try taken them out and checking them

the crankshaft sensor is located behind the crank pulley. the bottom pulley
problably your crank positioning sensor, on the front of motor, behind crank pulley. about a $40.00 dollar part. good luck
mass air flow sensor
The crankshaft position sensor is mounted on the front of the engine, just to the left of the crankshaft pulley ( when you are looking from the front of the Explorer. Helpfull
The 1991 Ford Explorer 4.0 engine does not use a cam sensor, but rather a crank sensor at the lower front of the engine to set crank or time position, two bolts and one connector.....

If you are asking about the 2.0L engine....the ECM was changed to what is called a NGC and the crank and tone wheel(pickup for crank position sensor) was changed. Also, the blocks are not interchangeable due to the position of the crank sensor was changed. It may be possible to change the crank and and sensor then extend the harness to reach the front of the engine where it was move from the rear starting in 2003 but this would be alot of work. Everything else on the engine should changeover fine.
The distributor is the crank sensor. If the timing belt was changed and the check engine light came on, the shaft that drives the distributor could be out of time.
