1998 mercury mystique When I put the car in Drive it reves really high and doesnt seem to want to move forward what is this and how costly could this repair be?

best guess is the Transmission Fluid is dirty and a transmission pan drop and filter change would solve the issue. Cost for this procedure is usually under $100.

it is by the floor to the left of the brake pedal may have a plastic cover although mine doesnt Also... the panel drops down by pulling on a small knob, immediately to the right of the fuse panel. There are also fuses in a box (under the hood), to the rear of the battery. A fuse pulling tool should be in each compartment... they look like stubby plastic tweezers.
