If the coil is connected to a circuit and the switch is closed then, provided there is a power source, the coil will become energized.
Just put a switch in the power wire going to the coil.
The 1998 Toyota ignition coil is located on the firewall, in the engine compartment. The ignition coil can be found on the passenger side of the firewall.
put a 3 prong -power - load - ground, switch on the (+) side of the coil .....
Check your park/neutral safety switch, if it is not working it will cut power to the coil.
Check the ignition fuse also check the ignition switch
Check the kill switch. and the ignition switch. If no power check all fuses.
You have to get into the wiring between the stator and the coil to break the power side or to take the power side to gnd and stop the coil from charging. If your still guessing its best to take it to a small engines place and let them do it for $20.
Check your fuse, ign switch and kill switch.
Check power to ignition switch with ignition turned on check the on position at back of barrel for power for starters, EA falcons have a thick film module which i think is located in the dizzy, which if faulty could burn a coil out.. good luck
Could be the ASD Relay (Auto ShutDown). If that's not working it can cut power to the coil, just switch the ASD Relay and replace it with the Horn Relay and see if that restores power, if so just go and get a new ASD Relay.
The coil of the door lock is open-shorted,etc. or the 12VDC to the coil is missing-could be a pinched wire or the switch not working.
