I've recently had the same problem and found the cause of the chime. I created the problem when I removed the cylinder lock on my 2000 Ford Expedition. What happened was, upon removal of the key assembly, I accidently bent a contact that touched part of the key assembly. When I bent the contact back to its normal position the chime turned off. I tested it by removing the contact and the chime started up again.
This contact is located on the outer area of the key cylinder located on the steering column (not the removal key assembly). It "hooks" into a slot of the key cylinder and touches the long contact of key assembly. If you look at your key assembly you'll notice a plastic piece that has 3 contacts on it. One contact is long, the other 2 are close together. The long contact is the one that causes the chime. Verify there is a matching contact in the key cylinder that touches this long cylinder.
Hard to explain, but it might be your problem too. email me if you need further info. dreigle2001@Yahoo.com
My 2000 Expedition had the same problem but on the driver side, when making a left turn. I replaced my CV joint and problem was solved
We had a very similar problem with ours. After years of use, they become worn and don't work correctly. Sometimes you can wiggle them or pull them back slightly and get them to work. It is also possible that someone may have changed the ignition cylinder and key somewhere along the way.
I have same problem on my truck seems that you have to replace the d.s.m. driver side module under the seat, because that controls all electric power to seat, pedals, and rear view mirrors.
Try spraying WD-40 on all door jams. And see if, it resolves the problem.
wich is the fuse # for driver side power window on 99 expedition
Towing will not damage your ignition switch.
Ignition coil no 7 primary circuit fault, if your expedition has COP (coil on plug) then the second from the back on the driver's side plug wire needs replaced. If you have coil packs(2 of them) then the coil which connects to that spark plug wire is probably bad
With a flathead screw driver
Motor or switch Bad? open wire somewhere in door jamb area Try holding swiitch with ignition on and slam door
3rd from front on driver's side
the ignition modular is on the driver side 6" from firewall
dont know if its the same but i have an 2005 expedition and my fuel pump module was located in the rear driver side wheel well between the frame and the spare tire
