Replace catalytic converter
Hard starting, loss of power, excess fuel consumption, check engine light, and a blowing sound under heavy acceleration.
When you get a po300 code and the check engine light flashes it to let you know to turn off the enging because you are starting to damage the catalatic converter, I screwed up mine by driving it it was a bad cam sensor
high flow cats are fake. the cats you have on your truck are as high as you need them. you start messing with your catalatic converters you will have a check engine light and all sort of nightmares.
the check engine light means you have something wrong with your emissions. theres something wrong with how your car lets out exhaust. There are sensers on your exhaust pipe that sense how much exhaust is being let out and how much unburned fuel is coming out. There is a computer in your car that senses that and try's to fix it. one of your sensers might be bad or you might have a clogged catalatic converter.
Might want to check the catalatic converter. if it is that, it's gonna be spendy unless you just drill a hole in the pipe.
If the catalytic converter is removed the computer will turn on the check engine light, and fuel economy may suffer.
Removing a catalytic converter will cause a check engine light, lower power on a computer controlled vehicle, and is highly illegal.
You may have a different code, the computer may not have been reset, the converter may not have been installed correctly, problem may not have been the converter in the first place.
A failed catalytic converter is one of hundreds of parts that can cause the check engine light to be on.
Run a computer diagnostic test to figure out WHY it's on. Why replace a converter when the problem could be an oxygen sensor?
One, it is illegal to remove a catalytic converter. Two, if the vehicle is computer controlled, removing the cat will cause a check engine light and a limp in condition which will reduce power.
The computer has detected a problem with the emissions controls. Have the computer scanned for trouble codes. Get this fixed, as it can cause other parts to fail, as in, the catalytic converter, O2 sensor.
