You always disconnect the battery before you take the airbag off. It is possible to have a spark when you unplug the airbag if you leave the battery hooked up. The same thing when you put it back . Reassemble the steering wheel before you hook the battery up.
The ignition swithch has failed and is making a continued contact
unplug the battery for 2min
unplug the negative terminal from the battery, and wait half an hour for the capacitors to discharge?
It is not recommended. When the ignition is on the on board computers are active, and it is never a good idea to remove power from a computer while it is active.
I would unplug the battery. This will reset your clock, etc., but it should turn the light off.
Just unplug it and kickstart it
unplug the battery for 15 min to disarm air bag The mfr recommends (and so do I) that you unplug the SIR (air bag) fuse first. Wait 15 minutes. Then disconnect the harness connector to the air bag itself if you can get to it. The connectors are supposed to be bright yellow. The battery disconnection method may work on some cars, but not all.
Put Key in ignition and turn it a bit.
disconnect the battery.4 bolts removes the airbag cover, then you unplug the airbag, get under the dash, undo the plugs for the clock spring, then remove it.. obviously reassemble the same way.. you shouldn't do this unless you know what you are doing!!!!
Unplug the battery then start dismantling the steer wheel. The airbag will not deploy if the batt. disconnected. You need a GMC coin remover, I have one I will sell for $60.
You don't have to unplug the horn to replace the battery.
