Many new cars today use electronic actuators to control the doors that channel the air where you want it. Sounds like one of yours is broken, that's the clicking noise you are hearing, and keeping the air channeled to the defrost instead of moving it where you want.
How much freon does a 1975 Cadillac Eldorado hold?
its a type of connector thatstends to fall off in most cars you will probably notice the air is mostley comming out of the defroster that's usually located in the dash.
what year car and whats the problem

Im not sure what you mean by the question and im not sure about the cadillac you are describing, I would take it to a local mechanic or or a Cadillac dealership

Cadillac Motor Car Division in April of 1953
The 1995 Cadillac Eldorado air conditioning clutch relay switch can be found on the firewall in the engine compartment. The air conditioning clutch relay switch will be on the passenger side of the firewall.
its in the fuse box
When Cadillac first introduced air conditioning as an option in 1953, the blower was in the trunk with clear pipes in the package shelf to deliver the cool air to four outlets in the ceiling, one over each passenger position. Probably because of this, air conditioning was not an available option in the convertible. However air conditioning was available in the convertible in 1956 with vent at the sides of the seats. For 1957, Cadillac moved the air conditioner from the trunk to under the hood and the vents were re-located to the top of the dashboard. With this move, I assume air conditioning then became an option in the convertible as well.
Built in the fan blower/motor.
remove the right front wheel, then you can see it, tough to get at.
