I also have a 2001 Dodge dakota, and I had several problems with various electrical devices failing to work. My turn signals worked occasionally, as well as, the same with my air conditioner and radio/clock. I realized that I needed to change the ignition switch, and it fixed all of those problems. Maybe this could help.
