firstly check that your airflow meter is working properly that's tends to give an uneven idle, next check your ISCV (idle speed control valve) that can cause problems too & by clean it out it is just a short term solution need to buy a new one later on.also check your leds to your spark plugs for cracks & residue build up.this is all process of elimination.
I assume that this is a petrol engined Mondeo The Mondeo's idle speed is controled by a sealed air system Most erattic idling problems are caused by an air leak somewhere in the system.
well now, when trying to diagnose a problem or problems, you should probably take it to a professional, who is liscensed to diagnose a problem or problems. B series beouch
Try replacing the idle air control valve (IAC)
You dont you replace the timing control module
The idling speed cannot be adjusted for fuel injected models. It is done by the ECU depending on inputs from various sensors. If the idling is erratic it is best if the car is taken to the vauxhall dealership who have testing equipment called TECH 2 which diagnoses the problem. Mapp sensor or you might need pugs and wires.
The most classic symptom is erratic or rough idling.
Is it carburated? If so I'd check that out, might need to be retuned or something.
if you don't use it enough the fuel goes 'stale' and gums up the carburetter
A miss, black smoke and a strong gas smell. Also, bad acceleration, rough idling, and stalling.
sluggish IAC motor. (IDLE AIR CONTROL) Controls idle Also many (maybe most) stalling problems are caused by vacuum leaks.
It's located on the Throttle Body and has an electrical connector plugged into it. It can be removed and cleaned with throttle body cleaner if you are having idle/idling, stalling, or surging problems. It is a cylinder shape with a plunger on the working end.
