2002 Ford Explorer sport trac will turn over but will not start?

If it turns over and you smell gas it is a good chance the timing has changed . I had the same problem and the timing chain tensioner gear snapped , it is made of neopreme. It took out my motor and had to replace the engine but it also could be a fuse in the engine compartment on the drivers side near the firewall . Hope it is not the timing thing but the 4 litre were known for that problemi until 2004 when they replaced the gear with a metal one
