2002 trailblazer The engine will start for about one second then die the only way to get it to turn over is cross the starter the doesn't work and the sercurity light comes on how do you reset it?

Insert the into the ignition switch and turn it to start until the engine starts. Repeat this 3 times. If it does not start after 3 times you may have a bad chip in your key or a bad ignition switch and will have to take it to the dealer.

What do you mean when you say it doesn't engage? Is the starter spinning but just doesn't catch to spin the engine? IF that's the case it could be as simple as a loose starter or as bad as a damaged flex plate/flywheel. But it would most likely be the starter.

if it wont crank the the starter is probally out but if it cranks and the motor doesnt turn either the belt is to loose or the engine is locked up
