2003 gmc sierra runs but then dies and has no spark after a while it will start again what could it be?

1987 Jeep wrangler won't start. There is no spark. it was running fine then started dying and not starting again. It would then start after it sat. Now it won't start at all.?
The problem could be with your cellunoid. They wear out. Its the part that produces the spark.
