Take your car to a Ford Dealer and have them correct the speedometer programming. The car should loose power at around an indicated 130 MPH.

well that's not to hard to answer. my truck did the same thing i replace the speedometer cable and sensor in the transmission and i never had that problem since. try that first and see what happens if that wont work then replace the speedometer panel in the dashboard.
To fix the inoperative speedometer you will need to replace the speed sensor. It is located on the side of transmission and has 2 wires coming out of it.
