remove tail light, remove burnt bulb, replace burnt bulb, test if it works, then put tail light back on....
The tail light is an assembly. The lens is not removable. To replace a bulb you remove the assembly by opening the liftgate, removing two fasteners, and pulling the light rearward.

From outside,take a screws out to get light assembly loose and remove light socket from back of assembly and channge your light bulb,then put it back.

Inside the hatch liner, there should be 2 black plastic "plugs" along the molding. Pull these out with pliers and remove. The tail light unit will fall out of the body once you pivot it forward to release the tongue at the front. The bulbs are aligned in a row and are easy to replace. I've done this on my 2003 so I'm unsure if the 2006 is the same but it "should" be... 2007 is the same process as above for both tail light and reversing bulb.
Tail and stop bulb = 3057 Park and turn bulb = 3157NAK
Lower tailgate and remove two screws. Pull assembly to the rear and it will release.
