Make sure you have the right transmission fluid. Changing the fluid will require removing the bottom of the pan and draining the fluid. You will need to replace the pan gasket and it is a good idea to replace the filter. There are kits available with the required parts.

Positraction clutches need the fluid changed periodically. Add Posi traction additive. Clutches bind on corners when fluid is old . You get a popping sound. Usually its the rear but change both axles fluid and put in the additive.

If there is not a drain plug on the bottom of the differential then you will have to remove the rear cover. If that is the case you will need a cover gasket. If it is limited slip, then it will require a special additive. Also be sure of the weight and if it is synthetic or not.
I own a shop and we use the BG transmission fluid flush machine. An additive is put in and run for 30 minutes. Then the machine is hooked up and flushes 16 quarts of transmission fluid through it. Next a conditioner is added. Doing this does NOT require the filter to be changed.
