Why won't my Mercedes doors won't close automaticly?
You need a local mechanic who works on European/German vehicles, not necessarily an overpriced Mercedes dealer repair place. Your car door latch could be either frozen if your in a cold climate or just turned into the latched position. With car door open lift handle to free latch. Now turn latch ( a curved metal assembly... needs a mechanic.

94 Summit Wagon - rear hatchback door won't open - how do you open and replace the latch and handle?
Just did this about a couple months ago. You have to go inside. You then take the handle off (two screws after you remove the covers that are over the screws). The take a screw driver and pop the panel off. After that there is a long bar that goes from the latch to the release. I believe all you have to do is pull upwards on that to release it. I thought I had the same problem but the latch was just really jammed. Took some WD40 to it, worked it really well and it works like a dream now.

How to replace inside door handle 1988 Ford Taurus GL?
Start with removing the door panel. The handle itself is mounted with a bolt or two. Disconnect the linkage that goes to the latch mechanism Reverse to install. While you have the door panel off, take a moment to grease the window track / regulator, and lubricate basically everything you can see in the way of linkages and door latch. WD40 or similar works good on that stuff. See "Related Questions" below for more

How do you open hood without hood release?
The best way is to find a similar vehicle, open the hood on the car that the hood release works on. Then try to figure how the latch mechanism works. The you can fashion a tool to trip the latch. Also, lie down and use a flashlight - look up and see if you can unbolt the latch bar. This works very well on Chevy blazers. You will need a long extension. If you let us know what type of car you have perhaps we can be of more help.

Your 1999 ford explorer hood wont open?
the hood latch is not releasing this could be due to a stuck/broken hood latch or something wrong with the release mechanism (broken/stuck cable, handle came off of cable, etc...) use screwdriver(s) through your grille to pull the lever that would be pulled from the cable. best thing to do is get a new hood latch from local parts store and look at it to figure out how it works so you know just what to press/pull/activate on the car -R. How do you unlatch the back window on a 94 suburban when the electric latch will not work?
Does it work from the outside with the key? That way it will make easier to get to the latch to see if you can get it work. I had the opposite problem in my 94, the hatch was open and the latch wouldn't close. I took the inner panel off (just Phillips screws) and the plate underneath that covers the latch. I used a lot of WD40 and worked the latch back and forth by hand and got it freed up so it works properly. That was 9+ months ago and it still works just like it should. Not sure if this will work for a latch that is stuck closed. I'm assuming that you have already checked your fuses to make sure there is power going to the latch. Hope this is some help with your problem. Good luck.

How do you fix the rear outside door handle of a E350 van?
I don't know how you're supposed to fix it but I'll tell you how I fixed the malfunctioning handle on the rear door of my 1994 E350. First, I removed the upholstered panel with the big pocket by prying off the upholstered buttons with a flat screwdriver which revealed Phillips head screws inside of what look like snaps. I removed all of the screws and the upholstered panel with the big pocket came off. Then I had to remove a half a dozen more screws that held on a piece of plywood. Then I could see the cables that connect the handle to the latch. There was play in the cable. I tightened the cable by drilling a hole in the door just below the window near the Pull Handle (not the handle that operates the latch--the one you use to pull the door closed from the inside.) I took a piece of coat hanger wire and wrapped it around the cable that goes from the door handle to the latch. I ran the other end of the coat hanger wire through the hole I drilled and then pulled it tight and wrapped it around the aforementioned pull handle. I know that's not the way you're supposed to fix it but it works fine and it didn't cost a penny.
1989 Ford Aerostar fuel pump works but not when connected to vehicle what's wrong?

How do you install a tailgate handle on a 2005 Chevy Avalanche?
It is a lengthy project if you do it correctly. You have to just about take the entire tailgate apart piece by piece. I started by removing the tail gate and putting it on some padded saw horses. From there, you just have to keep removing bolts until you get it broken down. The reason it is so difficult is there is a small tab positioned so that you cannot remove the latch -- you will likely see it early on. It is located right in the latch handle area. I took a short cut at this point. You don't have to but it was "a big time saver." After looking at the tab for a while and procrastinating about taking the tailgate apart, I had my body man take a cutting wheel and remove the tab. You cannot see this when the latch is in place -- it appears to be a security enhancement, not a requirement for looks or operation of the latch. Anyway, it saved a couple hours of work and works/looks fine.

Asked in Toyota Sienna
How do you realace a rear door latch-handle on a 2001 Toyota sienna?
Open the hatch. Look up at the inside of the hatch door...there's a pull strap and a pull handle...both have flip tabs on them. Insert standard US-type screwdriver into tab slot and pop them open. Remove handle and strap. These are the only screws holding that hatch's inner lining in place...everything else holding it in is clips. Gently pull the lining off. YOu may have to work your way around the lining, a bit at a time, but it'll come off. Once off, you can get at the inner nuts holding the door latch in place. Remove the nuts, and the latch will be free. Pay attention to how it's attached to the rest of the closure mechanism. Install the new latch, connecting all the parts. You may have to re-attach the plastic vapor barrier lining if your model has it. Duct tape works for this. Before you put it all back together, tho, lube all moving parts and nuts with a rust inhibitor.
