Type your answer here... on this 97 Camry the spark plugs are through the vavle cover and whem i removed the spark plug there are nuts holding the cover down and i didnt see any bolts on the edges of the cover is that the only thing holding the valve cover in place and also is this a hard job thanks Jim
how do i remove the valve cover to change the gasket in a toyota camry 1996
When it leaks.
Check to see it the valve cover bolts are torqued to specs. If this does not stop the leak, the gasket needs replacing.
Remove the valve cover.....scrape off old gasket.....clean gasket surface on valve cover....apply gasket sealent to valve cover gasket surface.....set gasket in sealent.....reinstall valve cover.
replace the valve cover gasket, easy fix
Most Camrys do not have screws for the cover gasket. Fasteners are rather used. There are 4 of them (4 cylinder). You can find them on each spark plug tube.
4 cylinder: half of hour of work (~$30-40) + the gasket (~$20-30).
You have to check the valve cover gasket from all sides. If it's not the gasket then you should check the break fluid level, and the break tubes around the passenger tire.
Gasket that goes between head and valve cover to prevent leaks
The valve cover gasket, on a 2004 Jeep liberty, can be found by removing the valve cover. Peel the gasket off of the head and replace with a new gasket.
Assuming you mean "valve cover gasket", the gasket seals the valve cover to the head so as not to leak oil.
Burning oil in a Toyota Camry can be caused by a manufacturer's defect in the engine's pistons. A worn out valve cover gasket can also cause burning oil.
