Also when you try to give the car more gas. It starts to run very rough.
Call a Chevy dealer and ask for parts dept. and give them the VIN# and ask them what the gear ratio is and they will tell you.

i have a 85 blazer. the in the tank fuel pump replaced by an electrical fuel pump. i avoid this lack of starting issue by turning the ignition key so the fuel pump starts to do its job. after about thirty seconds i give it about seven pumps of the gas pedal. Then she starts beautifully with no effort. i believe the fuel is not adequately doing its job.
It's lean. Best to check the carb and all vacuum lines for leaks and blockage.
take it two a auto zone and they will hook up 2 your computer and give any codes needed
It will depend on the outside air temp, but 35 give or take 5 is a good place to start.
its on the drivers side dash board. to get to it you have to have the door open and give a half a turn and the panel should come right off
carefully grab the mirror and give it a tug carefull not breaking it, once it is off you can access the motor
