you cleared the codes so now the vehicle info is lost so the censers are resetting so the car can run efficiently.the censers should return to where they were in about five miles or so,but your check engine light will come back on.the best thing to do is ,fix the problem, clear the codes with the engine off, then after you finish everything and unhook the scanner drive the vehicle for about ten miles to make sure the problem is fixed.hope that helps.
With engine running 13.8-14.2
Did you replace the fuel filter as well? A plugged filter will cause the engine to stall.
I believe that is caused by a plugged PCV valve or PCV hose

The engine will stop running. -Plugged up fuel filter is the same symptom .
Two possibilities: The engine is not running The port is plugged
Weak fuel pump? Bad fuel pump? Plugged fuel filter? Plugged air filter? Bad ignition coil? plugged catalytic converter?
A very plugged up fuel filter could do that.
I believe it is a 3.0 v6
The water pump for a 1998 Cadillac catera should be on the front of the engine. It is located near the center.
The radiator could be plugged or a couple of the internal coolant passages in the engine block could be plugged. Try back-flushing the radiator and the engine and see if that helps.
There are a few things that can cause this. First, plugged cooler lines from the transmission to the cooler, which usually is built into the radiator, or mounted in front of it. Second, plugged transmission cooler. Third, plugged filter in the transmission. Fourth, overloading the transmission. Fifth, if the cooler is in the radiator tank, and the engine is running too hot, it will also prevent it from cooling the transmission.
