Short answer: No, they are not.
Medium answer: If you have an old stereo with a bad 2SD155, replacing the 2SD155 with an NTE175 will probably fix the unit; I'd say 90% chance of success.
Details: Both are NPN silicon power transistors in a TO-66 package. In most applications, the NTE175 has better characteristics.
The one value, collector current, is listed as 2 Amps for the NTE and 3 Amps for the 2SD, but the NTE critter also is specified for 5 Amps Peak collector current, specified at 5ms and less than 10% duty cycle. In an audio application, I think it'll do fine.
Good luck!
A: The transistor has not changed practically the same size what has changed is the packaging and the technology of mapping substrates
A: Actually a transistor have two diode with the base mas a common terminal. the characteristics of these tow diodes however are not the same as a common diode
A silicon transistor is a transistor made of silicon.
Without the transistor you would need vacuum tubes to accomplish the same thing. None of our inexpensive portable electronics would be possible using vacuum tubes.

Yes, the are different names for the same thing.

The same things a transistor is used for.
A: Actually a transistor have two diode with the base mas a common terminal. the characteristics of these tow diodes however are not the same as a common diode
A: The characteristic will be the same as DTL RTL TTL the logic will not change but the transfer function for each family is certainly different
A silicon transistor is a transistor made of silicon.
There is no difference they perform the same functions.
The active region of a transistor is when the transistor has sufficient base current to turn the transistor on and for a larger current to flow from emitter to collector. This is the region where the transistor is on and fully operating.
A Unijunction Transistor is a transistor that acts solely as a switch.
