When setting up the clutch cable i usually pull on the cable at the firewall end so I'm pulling the cable into the engine bay. the nut should sit about 4 mm away from the fire wall. that's usally pretty close.

i think your refering to the BCM or Body Control Module. it's located behind the dash near the hand brake.
the fuel fliter on 4.0 XH Falcon Ute is under L/H side of car near the sill roughly where the passenger seat is. make sure you use a good quality spanner on the fittings as the round easily. Pipe type spanners are best to help prevent this.
