When the coil fails. I've had a vehicle that had one original coil w 200k miles on it while all the other 5 had been changed after failures.
The coils die faster than the plugs! The RX8 Irridium plugs need to be changed at 25,000 miles per the maintenance manual. Replace the plugs and ignition coils when the car won't rev over 9,000 rpm smoothly.
I think your problem is either in high voltage cables or in the ignition coils. Since you have two ignition coils for 4 cylinders and missfire in one, the problem is in the cables.
Depends on how many miles are on them, at the very least, check gaps & appearance.
Common problem with this engine is the ignition coils.
When your check engine light comes on have it diagnosed and it will tell you which celinder is misfiring and you reolace tha coil.I would say ignition coils. I have a 1999 Licoln TC and must replace all 8 due to misfires as vehicle approches 100K miles. Remember also if you change your coils install new spark plugs!
You don't. It has a D.I.S. ignition system and has no distributor or rotor. There are three coils mounted over spark plugs under coil pack cover (center top of motor) Each coil fires 2 pistons. They are not replaced as a tune up item. They are only replaced if faulty. Spark plugs should be replaced every 15,000 miles.
regular copper plugs (suppressor or resistor) 30k miles single platinum plugs with DIS type I or type II ignition 45k miles single platinum with distributor (presumably HEI) or COP ignition 60k miles double platinum plugs 60k miles iridium plugs 100k to 120k miles, possibly longer This assumes that you do not have a known or suspected problem with any of your spark plugs
Replace every 30,000 miles.
The clutch should last approx 150,000 miles. There is no need to replace this if it isn't abused
Replace the fuel filter and have the ignition module checked.
Depends on the year of you Accord. 1976-89 Replace every 60,000 miles 1990-96 Replace every 90,000 miles 1997-10 Replace every 110,000 miles. Replace every 10 years no matter the mileage.
Replace them every 100,000 miles.
