Yet on a positive note, there are also Americans that embrace diversity and welcome the educaton of a new culture. Those Americans find that experience in itself liberating and mind-stimulating. So its not all Americans that are ignorant, just those who don't know any better.

Well first, this is sort of an opinion. One does not have to care about other cultures if they do not want to. In fact, many people live only knowing of their own culture. However, not everyone is satisfied with that. Learning others cultures can expose you to new food, new friends, and new goods and services. So, one might reason that the reason to learn other cultures is one of keeping things interesting. For some humans, mystery and unknown is interesting.
