Many are, mostly those in Ontario and Quebec. These two provinces are the largest and before Confederation were one colony of Britain. They benefit the most from Confederation and as a result have the most to gain by concentrating power in the federal system and promoting Canadian Nationalism.
Many new Canadians are Nationalist for many reasons including the fact that their view of Canada and introduction to Canada is controlled by the Federal system. A system that benefits from Nationalistic feelings.
Outside of Ontario and Quebec, and for some even in Quebec, many Canadians are not Nationalistic. Canada has not been a net benefit for all and many see greener grass elsewhere. For them it has not been good being ruled by people who are thousands of miles away, who are from a different culture, have a different history and a different vision of their future.
