The chemical that is used in Diet Soda for artificial sweetening were given to lab rats for experimentation, but those rats were given super high doses of that chemical (Splenda etc) they only got cancer after continuous OD diet of that chemcial for awhile. So no diet is only bad for you if you drink it continously and in huge amounts. Point is for all things too much is bad for you.
It's not, unless you drink to much. A harder question would be how much soda would it take to take for it to start becoming "bad for you". That boils down to the amount of sugar and caffeine you intake from it, soda's notorious ingredients. Everything else is harmless.
Sodas are horrible for you. They are loaded with sugars and fats and calories. I can't believe every day people drink one to two sodas a day-It's Insane! Have you ever heard of a beer belly? Well, sodas can do the same thing. If you eat healthy enough but you drink several sodas a week, you could still become over weight. Hard to believe I know but true. One soda every week or two won't kill you but one EVERY SINGLE DAY-I just can't believe people would do that. Well, I hope now you'll think before you grab your second soda.

You can do your own research on your favorites by comparing the labels for ingredients. Especially bad is sweetener in the form of high fructose corn syrup, which is used in many soft drinks. The range does not go from unhealthy to healthy since the diet sodas contain much the same ingredients except they contain artificial sweeteners. Soda is not a health food in any form.
