No. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church) worship God alone. To worship Joseph Smith would be blasphemy and just as inappropriate and absurd as worshiping Moses or Isaiah or any other prophet. They do not worship their church either. Mormons do believe that God was once a man, but that He is now glorified, exalted and deified and is God, not a man.
Mormons also do not believe that God lives on Kolob, two verses of Mormon scripture say that the throne of God is near toKolob. It never says He lives on Kolob.
In addition, Atheism is the belief that there is no god - so even if one does not worship or believe in the same god that you do, this does not mean they are atheists.
The "Mormons" (members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) do NOT worship Joseph Smith. We worship the same Lord as all other Christian religions. We just believe that Christ, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit are three DIFFERENT entities in three DIFFERENT forms. Joseph Smith only restored the church in the new world. Mormons worship only God the Father and Jesus Christ. To worship anything or anyone else is blasphemy. We believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet, just like Moses, Abraham, Isaiah, etc. We revere and respect him as a man of God, but do not worship him, just as we do not worship any of the other prophets. Joseph Smith
Mormons are about the least 'loathsome' people in the world. They also do not idolize Joseph Smith.
Mormons.
No, it is forbidden by the Word of Wisdom given by Joseph Smith.
Joseph Smith rejected all of it.
Joseph Smith did not lead the Mormons to Utah at all. Joseph Smith was murdered in Illinois a year before the first group set out for the west. He did prophesy that eventually they would move to the Rocky Mountains, but he never did anything to lead them there.
He is in heaven to the best of our knowledge.
In 1844 the Mormons followed Brigham Young to what would become the Utah Territory.
Many things that people say against Mormons simply come from someone who is uninformed or has a different opinion. This does not mean that it is bad, but it is often offensive. Those who are uninformed or misinformed often say: -Mormons are polygamist (this practice was banned by the church over 120 years ago in 1890) -Mormons dont believe in the Bible (Mormons consider the King James Version of the Bible as sacred scripture and are encouraged to study it daily) -Mormons don't believe in Jesus (Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is their Savior, just like all Christians) -Mormons are cultish (Mormons live and dress and act just like most anyone else in society. They do not live on compunds, etc.) -Mormons worship Joseph Smith (Mormons believe Joseph Smith was a prophet, just like Moses or Abraham, not a god to be worshipped) -Mormons kidnap, brainwash, coerce, etc (Mormons wish everyone to make their own decisions, and define their standards by Scripture) Those who have different opinions and say things that are offensive to Mormons often say: -Mormons are not Christian (Mormons are not traditional Protestant Christians, but they do still believe in the Bible and salvation through Jesus Christ.) -Mormons are lying (Mormons honestly believe they are telling the truth) -Mormonism is a pyramid scheme (Mormons believe in paying a Tithe and in missions work to gain converts, but believe this is Biblically based and do not seek converts for monetary gain) -Mormons are unbiblical (Mormons believe that they are following the Bible very strictly, but the Bible can be interpreted differently by different people) -Mormonism is false (this is obviously just an opinion, but one that is often offensive to those who honestly believe)
