The Saab 900 is listed to be one of the top 100 cars that are safe and reliable. I've never driven one but I think I trust the reviews I've read. They also are very nice looking rides.

Is a 94 Saab a good car?

Yes, 1994 was the final year for production of the classic 900, the last pre-GM 900 that was desined fully by Saab. There was also the 9000. Both cars were good but it is really a matter of opinion. Either way they are very good value used.

What car is the Saab based on?

The Saab 9-3 and 9-5, and the new-generation 900, were based on the Opel Vectra. The Saab 9000's chassis was designed to be made by Saab, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Fiat. The original Saab 900 was based on the Saab 99, which wasn't based on anything else.

Where is the obd2 connector on a Saab 900 convertible?

obd2 were required on 96 and later cars, and by the specifications for it, it should be under the steering column or have a label there telling where it is. Earlier cars have the more generic obd sensors, which can be slightly different between manufacturers. As such a reader for obd2 is not usually compatible with older cars. I am not sure where the obe sensor is on pre-1996 saab 900s.

Will a 94 900 Saab trasmission fit a 99 900s?

Nope. They're completely different. The 1994 Saab 900 has an engine oriented fore-and-aft. The transmission is in the oil pan. There are a lot of other differences, but for now this is enough. The 1999 Saab 900 has a transverse engine like most other front-wheel-drive cars, and the transmission is bolted to the end of the engine. One big advantage of the old layout is the clutch replacement procedure. Instead of having to remove the engine or transmission to get at the clutch, on a classic Saab 900 all you need do is remove a plastic cover.

What battery to buy for a 1998 Saab 900 s?

For a 1998 Saab 900 S, you should look for a Group Size 48 (also known as H6) battery. Ensure it has a minimum of 700 cold cranking amps (CCA) for reliable starting in colder weather. Popular brands like Bosch, DieHard, or Optima offer reliable options. Always check for compatibility with your vehicle's specifications before purchasing.
