Are Saab 900 cars safe and reliable?
The SAAB 900 is listed to be one of the top 100 cars that are safe and reliable. I've never driven one but I think I trust the reviews I've read. They also are very nice looking rides.
Yes, Saab did make a 900 SE turbo. Is there a question? ~ Odd looking cars really.
Yes. Saab makes a 900 convertible. It is called the Saab 900 se convertible.
Any individual interested in purchasing a Saab 900 would be best suited to check classified ads that specialize in antique or classic cars. The Saab 900 is no longer made. Other places which may carry the autmobile include eBay motors.
Like all cars, Saab 900s have brakes. The calipers are part of the braking system. The braking system was basically the same on all Saab 99s and 900s from 1975 to 1987. What's the question?
The Saab 900 gets great mileage if you take great care of the car, regular oil changes, etc. In looking at forums about the saab 900 there were many people who have over 150,000 miles on their saab 900's. There was also a listing for 307,000 miles.

Yes, 1994 was the final year for production of the classic 900, the last pre-GM 900 that was desined fully by Saab. There was also the 9000. Both cars were good but it is really a matter of opinion. Either way they are very good value used.
obd2 were required on 96 and later cars, and by the specifications for it, it should be under the steering column or have a label there telling where it is. Earlier cars have the more generic obd sensors, which can be slightly different between manufacturers. As such a reader for obd2 is not usually compatible with older cars. I am not sure where the obe sensor is on pre-1996 saab 900s.
The Saab 9-3 and 9-5, and the new-generation 900, were based on the Opel Vectra. The Saab 9000's chassis was designed to be made by Saab, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Fiat. The original Saab 900 was based on the Saab 99, which wasn't based on anything else.
Nope. They're completely different. The 1994 Saab 900 has an engine oriented fore-and-aft. The transmission is in the oil pan. There are a lot of other differences, but for now this is enough. The 1999 Saab 900 has a transverse engine like most other front-wheel-drive cars, and the transmission is bolted to the end of the engine. One big advantage of the old layout is the clutch replacement procedure. Instead of having to remove the… Read More
yes, same engine.
Buying a used Saab 900 in Ohio depends on your location and if there are any available in your local. Check with your local Saab dealership. The dealership will be able to locate the vehicle you are looking for and provide you with the information.
I need the heating and cooling wiring schematics for a 1996 SAAB 9000.
Generally quite reliable, especially when compared to certain Chrysler A/Ts that were known to wear out at 60,000 miles. But the question is extremely vague. Saab 900 or Saab 9000? Turbo or non-turbo? What mileage? Has the transmission been maintained with regular fluid and filter changes? Is the car driven mainly on the highway or stop-and-go city driving? There are many variables, and you're asking about a 16 year old vehicle. Some things just wear… Read More
GM acquired 50% ownership of Saab in 1989 but it was not until the launch of the Saab 900 in 1994 that GM had an influence on Saab. In 2000 GM acquired full control of Saab and in 2003 the Saab 9-3 was built which was built.
1988 thru 1993 Saab 900 is the same as the Saab 9000 as they use the same brakes. 4-bolt, 108mm circle. They use lug bolts instead of lug nuts to secure the wheel to the hub.
First: it probably isn't. Saab only ever made about 7,000 of them. And all the decorative and "exterior performance" items, like the wheels and the side skirts, that were on the SPG cars could also have made their way to a regular 900. The only way to tell if you have a real, genuine, Saab 900 SPG is to pop the hood and look for the Automatic Power Control box - the device that keeps… Read More

Yes, I would definitely buy the SAAB convertible since it is classy.

Suggest you go to www.saabclub.org/ - the owners' club can answer all these questions and point you to reliable workshops and help with buying/selling parts and cars - SAAB owners are particularly keen e.g. I have 2 SAABs in the USA and 3 in the UK Good Luck! N.B. the firing order is 1-3-4-2 but without the proper workshop manual I won't say any more! You want the Bentley 16-valve manual; see http://www.bentleypublishers.com/saab/index.htm
The Saab Wheels website features a wide variety of wheels and rims in many styles available for Saab vehicles, including the Saab 900 and 9000 models.
quite honestly, my family has had about five 900's. From 84 to 91 years, 8 or 16 v, all non-turbo, all make a distinctive sound. If there is nothing wrong with the car that is just the way else cars sound. * Aftermarket belts are wider than the belts from Saab, this can cause a whine aslo.
I have a Saab 9-5 and its blower motor is located in the front of the windshield underneath the wipers

To tell if the windshield washer sprayer is bad on a 1995 Saab 900 all you need to do is use it. If it streaks, drain and replace with new fluid.
The suggested retail price of a Saab 900 according to Kelly Blue Book is $2,375 to $4,625 based on the quality of the interior, exterior, mileage, and engine components.
Yes and no. From 1989 till 2010 Saab was owned by GM so the NG 900 used the a GM platform and the GM V6 engine, the Second generation of 9-3 was also used GM engines. The 9-5 also is based on GM cars but Saab has been sold to Spyker now so the new 9-5 wagon will be the last Saab developed under GM with the replacement for the 9-3 in 2012 being the… Read More
There are several different front brake calipers for the Saab 900 depending on the year. The first is from 1979-1987 and is the same as that on the Saab 99 beginning in 1975. You need a special tool to rotate the caliper piston back into place because the front caliper also acts as the parking brake. From 1988 thru 1993, the front calipers on the Classic 900 are the same as those on the Saab… Read More
Well I have a Saab 900. If you are referring to what side the tank is on, its the passenger side which took me a long long time to get used to. Saab always has to do something unique(and usually impractical) but if that's not what your talking about, on my 900 it is on the passenger side just in front of the rear axle.

pour sortir un alternateur sur une saab 900 1996 doit-on le sortir par le haut ou par le bas?
Saab's can easily go several hundred thousand miles. The engines are amazingly reliable, especially the 2.0-liter engines of the 1980s. My current daily driver is a 1985 900 8-valve with 288,000 miles and it runs better than most newer Toyota's or Honda's. The manual transmissions can be a problem on 900s (1979-93), especially in turbocharged models. The 4-speed gearbox was designed in the early 1970s for a 100 hp engine, then a 5th gear was… Read More
Jerry initially had a BMW 5 Series as there is an episode where it is ruined by BO from a valet. Later in the series he has a classic Saab black 900 convertible, then a later Saab non-turbo 900 SE convertible, auto with tan interior. I don't recall seeing him ever in a 9000. Edit: In the episode where Jerry's car gets wrecked and they go to "identify" the car he accidentally says "Saab 9000"… Read More
Features on the new Saab 900 Turbo include new front seat styles, central locking doors, increased horsepower, rear seat head rests and a 2.1 liter engine.
The wiring diagram for "Radio - 1991" is on page 371-123 of the Saab 900 16-Valve Official Service Manual, published by Robert Bentley Publishers. Because of copyright restrictions, the diagram can not be posted here. Every Saab 900 owner should have this book. Price is only about $50. I use mine nearly every week for something.

"One can purchase a used Saab 900 from a used car dealer in Pennsylvania. If you speak to one of the smaller car dealers, they're often very helpful in helping you find the car that you want."
