Starting in 1979*, the Vokswagen Cabriolet (or Cabrio) has been a convertible based on the VW Golf (also marketed in the U.S. early in its life as the Rabbit.) The only substantial difference for the Cabriolet is its soft folding top, a roll bar to protect occupants if the car turns over, and various reinforcements to keep the body stiff despite the loss of its steel roof.
The Golf/Rabbit has been a sales success in the U.S. and Europe, has won many awards, and is generally praised by car magazines and reviewers for its sporty handling, quick acceleration and comfortable interior.
When it comes to cars, "good" is usually a matter of opinion rather than a matter of fact. However, from most perspectives, the Cabriolet would be considered a good car.
*Note: Even though the Rabbit/Golf has been produced since 1979, there were no Cabriolet/Cabrio versions from 2002 to 2011.
